It was clear to me after going through their site that they are just using a generic template and sprinkling "Adventist" words throughout. I have a feeling (yet to be substantiated) they are just a subsidiary of some larger entity.

As young Adventists , We found that we do not have anywhere online to congregate in mass to talk and address issues that are important to us. Many Adventists use other sites but you are often bombarded with some very shocking non spiritual material even in our own chat rooms. So we thought why not set up our own social networking site.
[edit] Why Do You charge a membership fee?
This is for a few reasons. 1: To Help cover the running costs of the site. 2: To Recieve only genuine membership applications 3: To Confirm prospective members are in regular standing in their local church this also gives us peace of mind that we are all who we say we are 4: For security purposes. It allows us to ascertain the identity of prospective members a lot better.

4: Does The Website Check That It's Members Are Really Adventist?. Anyone can claim to be Adventist and anyone can claim to be anyone else so if a website claims to be an Adventist website without checkng that applicants and members are truly Adventist, its all a big con. Adventplanet.com asks you for a one off $50 US Dollar membership sign up fee. Part of the fee is used to contact your Adventist church to confirm not just your membership but that you are in good and regular standing. This gives us all the peace of mind that we are all who we say we are and that we are in good and regular standing. For the forseeable future and unlike other websites, there are no recurring monthly fees and anyone who signs up at the moment, gets membership for life! (provided you remain an Adventist Church Member)
My response: I'm a bit skeptical.
- It looks like it was sloppily put together; it's not very attractive; they need a designer and a copy editor.
- I have a hard time understanding how they can justify charging $50 for their service.
