[edit] International Faith and Science Conferences

"From 2002-2004 the General Conference of the Adventist Church hosted a sequence of International Faith and Science Conferences designed to bring Adventist theologians, scientists, and administrators into conversation about some of the church's core beliefs." (Adventist Review, June 28, 2007, p. 8)

Is the information from these meetings available somewhere somehow? I don't know. But if so, I'd be interested in reading/hearing it...

[edit] Finances

  • Crown Financial Ministries
  • Financial Health Fair with Bob Marette
    • From A Millstone To A Milestone book by Bob Marette
    • Bob Marette believes that everyone can (and should) get out of debt, including their mortgage, and that it can be done in as little as 5 to 7 years.
    • It's interesting to note that he doesn't accept credit card payments for his books: that's how strongly he opposes debt.
    • Buy a used car, not a new car. A car with 50,000 miles on it has "barely even been broken in yet"; most cars are designed to go at least 200,000 miles. Sure, you may have to pay for repairs occasionally, but those are small, one-time expenses, compared with the long-term, recurring car payments you would be paying each month if you got a car loan. When you buy a new car, you waste money in several ways: (1) a new car loses much of its value the moment you drive it off the lot and it becomes "used" (much more sensible to buy a 3-5-year old car), (2) car insurance (you practically need comprehensive to protect your investment), (3) all the money you waste on interest on your loan.
    • He also believes that, with few exceptions, every college student would be advised to not take out a lone to pay for college; "pay as you go".
