And I think the number one thing that helps is really good documentation. If you don’t have good docs people can’t figure out your stuff. And actually if you can’t write good docs, your stuff probably sucks, probably not usable. So if you’re able to write about it, then you’re probably able to use it.

So if you look at the Mongrels, and you look at the code, and you look at the documentation, I think there’s twice as much documentation as there is code in the Mongrel project – just like the comments. And then we’ve got docs in the directory, and you can download all the raw documentation for it. And we’ve got a book. Just the documentation for it dwarfs the actual code for Mongrel, and I think that’s really what gives it its advantage.
