Inbox overload

[edit] Description of problem

It usually goes something like this... Somebody sends me a request to do something, or just sends a message that I need to reply to, or whatever...

There's a pretty good chance I wouldn't have time to deal with it right away, so I'd let it sit there, and then new e-mails would come in, and eventually this message would get lost amongst the dozens of other old e-mails still in my inbox...

The problem is, just because I intend to come back and revisit all of these e-mails that I've postponed (well technically, it's the response/action to the e-mail the actually postponed), doesn't mean I actually will. Somehow, it's just not as much fun or as appealing to go back and read or follow up on old e-mails as it is to stay current with new e-mails that come in...
