[edit] Daily Omer
'I bought a small, brown loose-leaf notebook, almost exactly the size of my small, brown leather-bound Bible, given to me by my parents for Christmas in 1940. These I kept together at all times... I called the notebook the Omer of Manna, taking the idea from Exodus 16:32, 'And Moses said, This is the thing which the Lord commandeth, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.'[Elisabeth Elliot, Passion & Purity]
This is what Elisabeth Elliot called her prayer journal. She had some good ideas about prayer journaling. From reading the entries she's published, it looks like she copied down a lot of verses from the Bible that she came across and thought were interesting/relevant to her life... (That's one of her good ideas...)
The name "Daily Omer" itself is telling of her (wise, I believe) philosophy that God will supply all our needs, as we need them. Our duty then is to simply be obedient to God one day at a time, trusting that God will reveal his will for us and supply our needs in time, and probably not two days or a month in advance!
