Title: "Ruby is a gem" or "Ruby: The programming language you've been waiting for"
An introduction to Ruby for beginners and those wanting to know more about it.
Audience: Computer-Science-minded folks who are new to Ruby and want to know what the fuss is all about.
Abstract: Ruby is a relatively new (1995) object-oriented language that brings together some of the best ideas from such languages as Perl, Smalltalk, Ada, and Lisp. Tyler will present a crash course on the basics of Ruby and provide some interesting examples to highlight Ruby's unique features. Learn about duck typing and iterators and find out how this powerful yet fun language could forever change the way you think about programming!
