My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me.Since you priests refuse to know me, I refuse to recognize you as my priests.
Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children.
my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.
[edit] [Creation museum (category)] / [Science (category)]
The host shared about how a new museum was [going to] open up in [_]... and how there was a lot of resistance to it from secularists and evolutionists...
Why are they so resistant to this new museum?, one wonders. It's not like they don't already have plenty (like, the vast majority) of museums that portray science using their secular worldview... So why be so defensive about this one new museum that happens to take a Biblical worldview to history and science?
It's almost as if they are afraid of what might happen if people started hearing about these facts and opinions from Creations... Maybe -- oh no -- people might start questioning about whether the theory of evolutionary origins is necessarily true. You wouldn't want people to start thinking for themselves, hearing alternative ideas, and deciding for themselves what's true -- that would be too scary!
A spokesperson for one of the [lobbyist groups that oppose Creation being taught] claim that "it's not about free speech"; rather, they are concerned because they "don't want people to inadvertently or intentionally mislead children with untrue information..." Right... And that's not about free speech? It sounds to me more like simply a difference in beliefs. What they believe to be "untrue information" another large group of people believe to be the truth. It sounds very much like a free speech issue to me. So how about letting those who want to teach Creation do so in peace?
It was commented that there has been an effort [to prevent public discussion of religious things], but how this was not always how things used to be (?)... How about some good old public debate about things rather than trying to simply [squelch (category)] any opposition to your views!!
Also discussed was how the founding fathers of this country certainly came into things with a Christian viewpoint. And how we're starting to see the (negative) effects of what happens when you try to completely remove this Christian / morality foundation from everywhere...
One caller commented about how many people today don't understand what science is. [Science is about the study of things that can be reproduced empirically]. He assured people that there is no conflict between religion and science. The theory of evolution is actually not very scientific because it can't be reproduced or proven empirically. The theory of evolution is a religion, just like the theory creation is.
Science doesn't have all the answers. It's a matter of interpretation as well. People can look at the same evidence and draw different conclusions.
A club called the "good news club" was discussed. Apparently it made it all the way to the Supreme Court, which ruled (thankfully) that kids/students did have the right to sit in "good news clubs" at their schools...
[edit] [Homosexuality (category)] / [Same-sex unions (category)] / [Abortion (category)] / [Pro-life (category)]
Had a couple calls about this...
One caller commented that it seemed like most Christians seem to do a bit much on the side of talking about how homosexuality and abortion are bad, but not as much of showing love to homosexuals as we should, and as she thinks Christ would do. She herself is a Christian, but she is somewhat bothered by the attitude that many Christians apparently had. By way of contrast, she told about how some Christians had offered to help clean up after some [pro-gay/pro-abortion] convention. Wow, that would be hard to do; to not tell them how you disagree with them, but to just go and help them.
The host (Jim?) give his opinion that sometimes the most loving thing you can do for someone is to tell them that the lifestyle they're living / the choices they are making is/are destructive.
The caller asked, ~"well shouldn't you at least establish a relationship with them before you start trying to tell them what to do?".
I think the best answer lies somewhere in the middle ... between those two ideas... Yes you should establish relationships with people who don't believe as you do, yes you should love them unconditionally and show them Christ's love abundantly, but yes you should also tell them (preferably under the right circumstances and with the right attitude and with the right timing ... but therein is where it becomes tricky) that what they are doing is sinful and destructive, if that is indeed the case.
Someone (another caller, I think) expressed the opinion that what is needed is more of the gospel... He mentioned that the Bible (?) says that the devil has blinded the eyes/ears of [many]. And we just need to [accept] that... There will always be [secular humanism]... And maybe we shouldn't waste our time fighting them [because they're not going to listen to anything we say...?]. What homosexuals and etc. need is not simply to hear that they are "wrong", but to hear about their need for a Savior and to find out about a God that loves them and wants to save them from sin (= the gospel)...
[Jim] asked ~ Why is it that people say / can say that smoking is bad, but that many are unwilling to discuss how destructive the homosexual lifestyle is? If we care about our children, shouldn't we be concerned about keeping them healthy? And yet those who follow a homosexual lifestyle statistically have a shorter lifespan by [10-20 years]! I don't care what religion you're from, you can't ignore the risks/dangres inherent to that behavior!
