An outline:

• The Israelites were living in the land of w:Goshen in Egypt at the time of the Exodus
• Moses escaped to Midian, located in present-day Saudi Arabia, probably using the familiar trade route of the time across the middle of the w:Sinai Peninsula (they show it on a nice map in the movie)
• Why didn't Moses simply escape to the Sinai Peninsula rather than all the way to Arabia? Because there were apparently Egyptian armies in the Sinai Peninsula who would have been looking for him.
• What route did the Israelites take?
• Mt. Sinai is not actually on the Sinai Peninsula as is commonly believed, but in Arabia
• The children of Israel went through the wilderness. Moses most likely led them along the same route he was familiar with when he had escaped to Midian before.
• God provided a cloud of fire during the night, which would have allowed them to cross the wilderness in [6 weeks], as recorded in the biblical account.
• The Israelites became trapped, with steep mountains on their sides and a sea in front of them
• Where did they cross the Red Sea? At the Gulf of Aquaba, at a beach called NUWEIBA. A different place than many people have considered before, because it's not as close by.
• Wait a second. The sea is over 1 mile deep in places, deeper than the Grand Canyon, and as rugged as the mountains nearby.
  • How could they have crossed the sea bottom, even if the water could have been removed??
• However, near the beach NUWEIBA (as the nice topographical maps show), it is actually much more shallow, it is not rugged, there is no coral, and it would be entirely possible for the Israelites to all cross on foot (if there were no water).
• The Bible account says that the Egyptian army -- a bunch of chariots -- all drowned when the water closed up over them. God "made the wheels come off" of the chariots.
• Shouldn't there be evidence of chariots on the bottom of the sea floor then?
  • In fact, there is evidence!
  • The movie showed images of coral that appeared to be in the shape of chariot wheels.
  • Particularly compelling was the image of coral that looked like a chariot on its side: an axle going up with a wheel on the top. It definitely looked man-made; it could not have achieved that shape due to natural causes alone.
  • Traces of metal were found in these pieces of coral, which seem to corroborate the fact that the wooden chariot wheels of the time were often reinforced with metal

I never thought I'd find compelling the argument that Mt Sinai was in Saudi Arabia. While I still don't believe it, and it isn't the main focus of the video, the producers and director didn't make the whole "Sinai in Arabia" scenario look completely ridiculous.

Most of the time in this video is spent trying to establish the proposition that the Parting of the Sea during the Exodus took place across a very deeply submerged sand spit which sort of crosses the Gulf of Aqaba.

It builds up a strong case for the probability that the read see crossing are in the Aqaba gulf and mount Sinai are in Arabia. [...] But you are left with questions like: Are there other interpretations of the findings that are said to prove that there has been a Jewish settlement in Egypt? What about the usual dating of the conquest of Canaan in 1250 BC? (This theory follows the biblical dating which is about 1450.)
